The Center was recently noticed by the Georgia Trust with its 2015 Award for "Excellence in Rehabilitation" This award rercognized the Pioneer Historical Society 4 year effort to rehabilitate the South Geeorgia College Administration Building & Auditorium for its adaptive use as the Telfair Center for the Arts. Accepting the award on behalf of the Society were Board Chairmen Thomas Anderson, PHS President Robert Herndon, and the rehab crew - Frank & Ann Murphy and Rip Maneely. Thanks to the City of McRae - Helena and the local businesses and organizations that donated to the rehab effort and to the Georgia Power Foundation for its grant.

The rehab effort to adapt the South Georgia College Auditorium for use as the Telfair Center for the Arts has been completed with the Restroom for the Men' Dressing Room update. With that rehab effort finished, the Telfair Center for the Arts is fully operational.

The rehabilitation of the former library room of the Old South Georgia College has been completed for its adaptive use as the main reception room. This 25 x 44' space includes a buffet line, new lighting, solar shades and is beautifully finished. Now available for your use. Thanks to the Exchange Club for their generous donation to the TCA rehabilitation effort. We are close to completing our rehab of the first floor which includes the auditorium, two reception rooms, the lobby, dressing rooms,restrooms and the HVAC systems

Congratulations to Mark for his selection to the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame. Mark is a native son of Telfair County and will be appearing at the Telfair Center for the Arts for the PURE COUNTRY CONCERT with vocalist KENDRA WELCH.

Work is in progress to restore the Old South Georgia College's Library Room for its adapative use as a large reception room. The walls are being patched or replaced and covered with nu -wal to insure their durability. Wainscotting and flooring is being repaired or replaced. Lighting is undergoing restoration to match the historic character of the room and all surfaces are being prepared for painting. The floor is being cleaned and tung oil is to be applied. The book shelves at the south end of the room have been removed and a buffet line cabinet installed.
Work is also underway to rehab the ladies rest room that serves the ladies dressing room. This restroom was installed in 1911 and has been improved over the years but has been in disuse for several years.

A new sound system was installed in the TCA auditorium on 11 March 2011 and is available for use. At the heart of the system is the Yamaha EMX-2000 12 channel powered mixer.
